Disaster Relief

Disaster Relief

Tennessee Baptist Disaster Relief is a cooperative, volunteer ministry of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board and its affiliated churches.  It is totally dependent upon volunteers who give of their time, energy, talents and finances to assist others in a time of disaster.  The ministry is led by the State Director, an employee of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board.  He and one administrative assistant are the only employees working primarily with Disaster Relief.

                                          'ALERT  ALERT  ALERT'

                                       Hurricane Florence Callout

Thank you to those who responded to my Sept. 13th e-mail about TN DR units being on alert and provided dates you could respond.  It looks like Oct. 8-14 will be the best time for our Hamilton County team to respond to impacts from Hurricane Florence and I've provided that info to TBMB DR.   If others of you or other volunteers from your church are available to respond then please let me know.  So far, some Knox County teams have been working in the New Bern, NC area.  I've learned that North Carolina DR is taking care of the chainsaw requests, so we will probably be doing flood recovery.  There are also opportunities to serve with the Sullivan County feeding unit in Kinston, NC.

Keep in mind that there has not been a general call out yet as the flood waters have been slow to recede.  So plans could change when the callouts actually begin and when locations are selected.  This is a major disaster and ministry opportunities will be available for quite awhile.

Thanks for your commitment to serving,

Doyle Pittman

                         UP COMING DISASTER RELIEF OPPORTUNITIES

On November 1 - 4, 2018 there is a Disaster Relief Mass-Feeding opportunity at the Remote Area Medical (RAM) event in Gray, Tennessee. I have spoken to Jim Ramey about our church helping with this event. Setup will begin on Thursday, November 1 and the feeding will begin, November 2 at 5:30am with a full breakfast. There will be a AM shift and a PM shift. We also will be providing lunch and provide feeding for the professionals. Accommodations will be like a callout scenario, at a local church. There are some nearby campgrounds if you would like to bring your camper.

If you are considering to be a part of this event, I need to know by August 29, 2018 and if you are staying at the church. I have provided a link for you to view information about:
